We are setting up a new group in Wolsingham.
Contact us to find out more.
My
name is David and I run the Barnard Castle Speaking
Up Group.
We meet from 12.15-1.45 pm on the last Friday of every month (except August) at Claire House, Victoria Road.
We like to get together and have a chat. We have done cooking,
drama, art work, singing and lots of other stuff.
Here are some of us making felt.
Sedgefield Speaking Up Group
This group meets on a Friday once a month (except August) between 10.00 and 11.30 at our offices in Durham city.
Young Peoples Group
This group meets from 10:00-11:30 am on a Wednesday once a month at our offices in Durham city.
Young people with a learning disability aged 16-25 are welcome to come and meet friends, and find out about speaking up for yourself.
What self-advocacy means to us:
to be able to stick up for yourself
to be able to say 'No' or 'Yes' because you want to
to make sure that people know what you think
to know your rights as a human being
to get hold of any information you need in order to make decisions
to make choices and carry them out even though you may have setbacks
to be able to try again if you make a mistake
to insist that you are treated with respect
